You child is unique and that needs to be captured in their casting shots. However, importantly, these aren’t family photo album snaps, but professional images perfectly directed and honed to promote, to make your child stand out from the crowd and be invited for audition. They are your ticket to get through the door. A good headshot will, at its most basic, demonstrate your investment in, and your understanding of, your child’s career, and an understanding that first impressions count.
Last week Sisters Alex & Rachel visited the Liverpool Studio for their Casting Headshots Session. Opting for package two and makeup artist, they where able to enjoy a relaxed headshots session.
I use gentle direction to ensure we get the shots that are needed without your child even knowing they are working. I focus on the attention to detail so that you don’t have to. We will start with a few test shots which we can review on the computer so we can make adjustments as we go. We work in the studio for a time, effectively ‘playing around’ as far as the child is concerned, whilst I ensure the important boxes are ticked such as ensuring lighting reflects film and TV expectations.
Young Actor Dachi, popped into the Liverpool studio last week for his first Actors Headshots Session. Being Dachi’s first sitting, I can only imagine how he felt, it is a neracking process having your picture taken.
I specialise in Actors Headshots with over a decade of experience. Children like Dachi are unique and that needs to be captured in their casting shots. However, importantly, these aren’t family photo album snaps, but professional images perfectly directed and honed to promote, to make your child stand out from the crowd and be invited for audition. Good headshots are your ticket to get through the door.
A good headshot will, at its most basic, demonstrate your investment in, and your understanding of, your child’s career, and an understanding that first impressions count. Capturing the essence of not only your child’s character, but also the character they are capable of playing, requires a photographer who can demonstrate versatility. If you are looking for headshots for your child please check out my packagesavailable in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and London.
When you come to Rory Lewis for your Spotlight photos my aim is to give you a relaxed and comfortable session, this is why I only see a maximum of two clients per day. Upon Spotlight’s recent visit to Liverpool, they posted me as their recommended photographer in the Liverpool Region. For the past 10 years, I have specialised in portraiture, in particular with Actors, and have tailored a package which offers a relaxed session to get the very best selection of Actors Headshots for your Spotlight Page.
I will take 200-400 images of you during the session which will include studio and outside locations , afterwards all your images will be uploaded to your own web gallery the same day which you, your agent, family and friends can all access via your own password to view and choose those 3-6 images depending on your package.
“Very pleased with the results of my Actors Head Shots. Camera quality was excellent and the Photos where of a high standard. Rory was really professional, he made the experience fun and worth while.
As it was my first time I was unsure of what to expect. However, Rory guided me through what he wanted me to do and done so in a polite manner. I was especially pleased by my makeup and hair results and the artist was also professional and very kind.
Overall my experience was enjoyable I would highly recommend Rory and his team.”
I will discuss with you prior to the shoot the selection of tops I need you to bring to the session in order to create four to six different looks via clothing, lighting, change of background, hairstyle, interior & exterior (weather permiting) locations to present to your agent and casting directors.
The re-touching will be sympathetic to each client without being unrealistic ie spots and skin blemishes, as Spotlight themselves say – the casting director, agent or production company want to see a photo of the “real” you so if you turn up to an audition or casting looking completely different to your photograph you are wasting everyone’s time!
I am a Portrait Photographer, though I can’t afford to market myself solely as a Portrait Photographer I must shoot a wide variety of work from Models to Product Photography & Interiors.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoy being a general photographer every assignment is unique and exciting. However, I am a huge fan of Stage & Film. When I shoot people who aren’t Actors I don’t enjoy it as much.
Actors in my opinion make the best models. Actors take direction effortlessly on camera, when I shoot an actor I try to bring their true character into the picture. I like to take the time to have a conversation getting to know the actor helping them feel at ease.
If i’m shooting an established actor I like to do my research. Some of the famous people I’ve photographed i’ve not know much about. I didn’t know a great deal about Emma Rigby, so before our shoot I watched some clips on Youtube and read some articles.
Another exciting opportunity presented to me was a shoot with Matt Littler & Darren Jeffries. Formally from Hollyoakes and Now Presenters for T4. Their Agent approached me to shoot them for a promotional portfolio update. Again I applied some research and looked at similar duo presenters like Ant & Dec and even the Two Ronnieswho inspired the shot below. The shot really brings out the quirkiness of the guys.
It was film & stage that inspired me to become a photographer in the first place, and I strive each day as a professional photographer to shoot more & more exciting projects with Film & Stage Actors.
Recently Devon Beigan, young actress & recent Star of Casualty, arranged her first ever Headshot Session. It was fun to show the fun and serious side of her personality, shooting a broad variety of expressions to illustrate all aspects of Devon’s Character.
In 2014, I will be holding my 2nd Exhibitionand I will be approaching stars of stage & film to pose in several projects to help raise money for UNICEF. Last year’s 2012 Exhibition helped to raise £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support I hope to beat last years total and raise over £1000 for UNICEF. It is an amazing feeling to raise money for a good cause while doing something you enjoy.
