Actress Tess Clarke arranged her first portfolio of Headshots at the London Studio last month. A recent Performing Arts graduate it was a pleasure to work with Tess. These headshots will help to illustrate her acting ability to casting directors and take her career forward. On the day of her session I directed Tess to assume different expressions and characters. Creating an exceptional new representation of her talent as an actress.

Thank you to Katherine McKalip for arranging her Actress Headshots at the Glendale Studio in Los Angeles. After majoring in Music and Drama in college in the ’60s, she later did almost 10 seasons of theatrical acting/training at Western Stage, building up to leads, among them being Frau Gabor in Spring’s Awakening, and M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias. Now in Southern California, she’s doing TV (TLC, Discovery, National Geographic), movies.
It was a real pleasure to work with Katherine, an exceptionally talented actress. Throughout the session we worked on Commercial and Theatrical Headshots. I hope to have the chance to see her on stage at some point in the near future. The below is from one of the theatrical sets photographed.

“I enjoyed my shoot with Rory. His wife was very helpful with details while I was getting ready, too. Rory chose a good background for my white hair, and I esp. liked that he would shoot a group then turn the camera round and show them to me & ask for input. I wanted certain moods and he worked at getting that just right.”
This month at the Liverpool Studio actress Jennifer Walsh arranged her Actors Headshots Session to update her Spotlight Acting Page. Jennifer opted for Package One, photoshoot including three retouched images presented in both Black & White and Colour. It was wonderful to work with Jennifer who very kindly wrote a review of her experience below.
“From the moment I read Rory’s website I knew I wanted him to take my Headshots. I loved his background and passion for headshot photography. I contacted him and booked online – it was quick, easy and his correspondence was excellent, friendly and I was excited to attend the photoshoot. I took my sister along and as soon as we arrived we loved the arty environment in the heart of Liverpool. We found parking easy and were kindly shown to Rory’s studio by another chap working for the Retro cinema. Rory had an assistant trainee and this was fab as we could learn some tricks of the trade whilst he took my photos. He showed me the shots all the way through and I loved them. I knew I had the headshot I wanted within the first 5 mins as he is such a wonderful photographer with a great eye and making you feel so relaxed so portraying your true self. He also knows what the industry and Spotlight look for so he directs you throughout the shoot. He is courteous, friendly and fun and made the whole experience perfect.
When I received the final retouched Headshots I was so thrilled they were wonderful. I will certainly use him again in the future and I would highly recommend any actor or individual wanting Headshots or photography to contact Rory. You will be thrilled with the result.”

August/September is a busy period for Actors Headshots, with actors graduating and the Annual renewal/entry for Spotlightapproaching on 15th November 2015; having a good headshot is an essential part to being casted.
Rosanna, booked her actors headshotssession at the Liverpool Studio this week to create her first portfolio of acting headshots. I specialise in Actors Headshots, this separates me from photographers who offer many different services and may not have the experience in the specialised field of Acting Headshots.
I have experience working with the worlds greatest acting talent, honing my skills to make each headshot a comfortable process. Rosanna booked my Package 02, which gave her a no time limit session; plenty of time to relax and get used to the process enabling Rosanna to achieve the best images from her photoshoot.
First time for my daughter having her actress headshots taken. However, this was not a problem as the session was very relaxed and my daughter was made to feel at ease. Great choice of photos, which made choosing just one a bit difficult as they were all great!!! Great communication throughout, great value for money.
Aspiring Actress Rachel Levine, booked an Actors Headshots Session at the Leeds Photography Studio this month. For over 10 years I have been creating Actors Headshots for Established and New Talent. If you are in need of a photoshoot to update or start your portfolio please Check Out My Packages. Based in Liverpool and holding sessions monthly in Manchester, Leeds & London Rory has developed his own unique style of working with actors ensuring their photographic headshot experience is an enjoyable; relaxed session; to create the very best in Actors Headshots.
“Extremely pleased with the attention to detail that was evident throughout the shoot and after. I was made to feel comfortable and at ease which was brilliant as it was my first time getting headshots taken. It was relaxed, and I was given lots of time to get changed and was in control of how my shots turned out. I was constantly shown my photos so I could see how they looked. I was also pleased with how fast my pictures were transferred to me. My final edited shots turned better than I thought they would, I am beyond happy with them. Would definitely recommend Rory Lewis.”
When you come to Rory Lewis for your Spotlight photos my aim is to give you a relaxed and comfortable session, this is why I only see a maximum of two clients per day. Upon Spotlight’s recent visit to Liverpool, they posted me as their recommended photographer in the Liverpool Region. For the past 10 years, I have specialised in portraiture, in particular with Actors, and have tailored a package which offers a relaxed session to get the very best selection of Actors Headshots for your Spotlight Page.
I will take 200-400 images of you during the session which will include studio and outside locations , afterwards all your images will be uploaded to your own web gallery the same day which you, your agent, family and friends can all access via your own password to view and choose those 3-6 images depending on your package.
“Very pleased with the results of my Actors Head Shots. Camera quality was excellent and the Photos where of a high standard. Rory was really professional, he made the experience fun and worth while.
As it was my first time I was unsure of what to expect. However, Rory guided me through what he wanted me to do and done so in a polite manner. I was especially pleased by my makeup and hair results and the artist was also professional and very kind.
Overall my experience was enjoyable I would highly recommend Rory and his team.”
I will discuss with you prior to the shoot the selection of tops I need you to bring to the session in order to create four to six different looks via clothing, lighting, change of background, hairstyle, interior & exterior (weather permiting) locations to present to your agent and casting directors.
The re-touching will be sympathetic to each client without being unrealistic ie spots and skin blemishes, as Spotlight themselves say – the casting director, agent or production company want to see a photo of the “real” you so if you turn up to an audition or casting looking completely different to your photograph you are wasting everyone’s time!
