Bill Brochtrup Actors Headshots LA February 2018 Sessions
Bill Brochtrup, stage, film, and television actor is immensely talented. Best known for playing “John Irvin,” the cheerful administrative aide on ABC TV’s Emmy Award-winning police drama, NYPD Blue. Along with the rest of the cast, he was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble.
Bill arranged an update of his Actors Headshots Portfolio at the Studio in Glendale. Throughout the session, I directed Bill through multiple looks. Rory created some miraculously detailed portraits to match a very specific brief. His eye for atmospheric light and shadow – part Rembrandt, part Expressionism – means that his headshots are works of theatre in miniature. Highly recommended.

Headshots Sessions completed it was time to turn my attention to teaching with a Fine Art Nude Photography Masterclass on Sunday 29th October. Throughout the day students worked with Two different Fine Art Nude Models, who modelled throughout the day. Learning lighting, camera technique and direction. I will also be returning to LA with several workshops in January/February/March, from Portraiture, to Fine Art Nude.
Making use of all my time in LA I was able to fit in a Portrait Sitting with Actor Rufus Sewell. The sitting had been on the cards for quite some time and I was lucky Rufus was in town on a break from filming The Man In The High Castle. I’m only sharing one portrait from the sitting as the below has been acquired by The National Portrait Gallery in London. The shoot was very memorable, I’ve admired his work for many years and the chance to direct and photograph Rufus was a wonderful experience. The other portraits will be displayed at an exhibition of my work next year so stay tuned.
