Sonya is moving on to big things and the headshots she required needed to be quintessential. I pride myself by producing the best possible portraits to market yourself. I feel that it’s my duty; after all you’re trusting me with such an important task. I want every client to walk out of my studio saying that these are the best headshots they’ve ever taken.
Kirk Baltz boasts an incredible acting resume he is best known for his role as Officer Marvin Nash, in the famous torture scene of the 1992 Quentin Tarantino film Reservoir Dogs. Kirk also starred in another film written by Tarantino, 1994’s Natural Born Killers, as Roger. His other film credits include the 1990 drama film Dances With Wolves, the 1997.
Kirk in need of an update of his Actors Headshots, arranged a session at the Glendale studio in Los Angeles. Throughout the session, I directed Kirk through multiple looks. From the no nonsense detective to the Father and even the complex villain. I believe headshots should focus on ‘Actors in the Act’. Relaying emotions and feelings to the lens. Thus demonstrating their creative ability. I’m sure with this new collection of headshots Kirk will do very well indeed.

Headshots Sessions completed it was time to turn my attention to teaching with a Fine Art Nude Photography Masterclass on Sunday 29th October. Throughout the day students worked with Two different Fine Art Nude Models, who modelled throughout the day. Learning lighting, camera technique and direction. I will also be returning to LA with several workshops in January/February/March, from Portraiture, to Fine Art Nude.

Making use of all my time in LA I was able to fit in a Portrait Sitting with Actor Rufus Sewell. The sitting had been on the cards for quite some time and I was lucky Rufus was in town on a break from filming The Man In The High Castle. I’m only sharing one portrait from the sitting as the below has been acquired by The National Portrait Gallery in London. The shoot was very memorable, I’ve admired his work for many years and the chance to direct and photograph Rufus was a wonderful experience. The other portraits will be displayed at an exhibition of my work next year so stay tuned.

Los Angeles Actress Fiona lakeland recently arranged her Headshots Session at the Glendale Studio. Your Actors Headshots are the first point of contact with Casting Directors. Often typecast, Fiona wanted to add to her portfolio of Headshots updating her casting profile with new images to illustrate her acting ability and get casted for new and exciting parts.
“I am so glad I decided to shoot with Rory when he was in LA this September! I signed up for one of his headshot mini sessions, and though we only shot for 30 minutes, Rory sent me over 250 images to choose from.
I was completely surprised by how many good, and TRULY INTERESTING shots there were. Not only are these photos some of the best headshots I’ve ever had, but they actually look like me… like the real me… like the personality me.
Shortly after starting to use these new shots, I booked an awesome short film playing a role I never would have seen myself playing.
Rory was a true pleasure to work with, he was very professional and made me feel completely at ease. I received all my photos the same day, and his turnaround time and pricing for retouching was fast, very fair, and the quality is excellent.
I highly recommend shooting with Rory if you can!!”

For some actors having their headshot captured can be an extremely nerve-racking experience, after all stills photography is an unnatural concept for actors. After-all actors are used to moving on stage and screen. For others it’s not such an ordeal; whichever it is for you the one thing that helps to get the best photos is time. Yes, Time and LOTS OF IT, this will ensure you are completely relaxed and will photograph at your best.
So after we have put the world to rights over a cup of coffee we will have plenty of time to work. I always like to start with a few test shots which we can view on the computer so that any necessary changes can be made. We then get to work in the studio for a time, this gives you a chance to get a feel of how I work and I can find out what works best for you.
Clothing and hairstyles can be changed whenever needed. (A Makeup Artist can be provided if Needed). From time to time I will show you photos so you have a clear idea of what is going on. We then take a series of outside shots; by this point, I will have a good idea what is best for you and you will feel even more relaxed.

Throughout the shoot, we will aim to get as many looks as we can, with clothes, different hairstyles, angles and emotions. The session will last around Two Hours and in that time I will take about 500 photos. I will then cut down the 500 to around 200/400 Depending on Your Package.
I shoot in colour and convert to black and whiteyou receive both colour and black and white copies of your retouched images. You will receive your contact sheets on-line via your own private website within 24 hours.
Once you have chosen your two photos I will retouch and crop them for you. Changes can be made before you receive your final photos. With regards to airbrushing, I feel this is a very important area as too much can spoil a photo. This is why I spend a great deal of time working on your photos and like to include you in this process. To make sure you pick the right photos, which stand out for your Casting Profile Pages.
I have had a few headshot sessions and photoshoots before and I hate having my picture taken. I was put immediately at ease and given slight directions to help change stance and also the thought process for each photo. The pictures themselves are of high quality (even before editing) and in terms of value for money, I would say that for photos of this quality and the quantity of images that you can get afterwards, is phenomenally good value.
I can’t wait for 2 years down the line when I will need new ones. Thanks!

I contacted Rory for an Actors Headshot Session and I was not disappointed. Rory was extremely pleasant and welcoming . As for the session itself I couldn’t have felt more comfortable about my shots. He kept me visually updated throughout the shoot with how they were turning out so that we could adjust and tweek things to get the final shots I was looking for!
“Only the second time I have had my photos done professionally and it was definitely the best experience I have had.
Rory is very friendly and instantly a relaxing presence; we chatted the whole time. He obviously knows what he is doing and he kept the session light while maintaining professionalism and craft with his shots. Would go back without doubt.”
“Rory was a very approachable, friendly and professional photographer that immediately put my nerves at rest.
Sometimes an actor can have so many images he/she wants to achieve and it can become so stressful that it can impact on the photographs. Rory was excellent at getting the “look” just right and helping me get the most out of my ability.

“Excellent photography workshop. We went through 8 different light set ups starting with a single light source and ending up with two light sources with the tightest control of the light. There was a lot to take in and was very happy with the photos I took. The breadth of the material covered was excellent. Very pleased to have attended. Thanks Rory!”
