Results from September 2017 Headshot Sessions

“Very Very Pleased ”

Written on: 08/03/2017 by J Derrington

I have had a few headshot sessions and photoshoots before and I hate having my picture taken. I was put immediately at ease and given slight directions to help change stance and also the thought process for each photo. The pictures themselves are of high quality (even before editing) and in terms of value for money, I would say that for photos of this quality and the quantity of images that you can get afterwards, is phenomenally good value.

I can’t wait for 2 years down the line when I will need new ones. Thanks!

“A pleasure to work with”

Written on: 02/03/2017 by Joel Quinn Via Reviewcentre.com

I contacted Rory for an Actors Headshot Session and I was not disappointed. Rory was extremely pleasant and welcoming . As for the session itself I couldn’t have felt more comfortable about my shots. He kept me visually updated throughout the shoot with how they were turning out so that we could adjust and tweak things to get the final shots I was looking for!

Using old headshots can be boring. Familiarity breeds contempt. Don’t you get bored with the same look yourself? An updated professional image on your website and social media pages will deliver the message that you care about how you present yourself to others.

 (Hasselblad H3D)

The technology in photography is improving every year. You do not want to look outdated, do you? Especially for those of you in the entertainment business, styles and trends change frequently, which is why a new image could also attract new offers.

 (Rory Lewis)

New online headshots are also beneficial if you are looking to move into a new role or if you have just left a business. The old headshot may associate you with your previous work and a refreshed image can make you feel better about your image. Our looks change without us noticing, so an updated headshot lets people recognise you.

Rory’s recent  session with Actor Julian Bleach, star of the Borgias and Doctor Who, illustrates how talent and acting ability can be conveyed. Julian’s appearance is retained, very little air-brushing is applied. This is very important if you wish to present your image to casting directors. The expression is distant yet aloof, it has energy, it draws the eye, this is what your headshot needs to evoke.

Julian Bleach Rory Lewis London Portrait Photographer

Your headshot is your first point of contact with any agency or casting director. If it doesn’t stand out; if it doesn’t have the energy; the raw talent which demonstrates your craft. Your headshot won’t work for you. Headshots are a very big investment to an actor, sessions are expensive. You need to make your headshot work for you. It represents you and your character your style, your talent and it must reflect all these things.

Natalie Dormer & Emma Rigby Rory Lewis London Headshots Actress Actors Photographer

Most of Rory’s headshot sessions with Celebrities last 15-20 minutes, this is all the time he is allotted to capture the stars of stage and screen. In this time Rory has to think fast, breaking the ice and directing these talented actors to capture the headshot which will represent them for the next 12 months to – 2 years. Just think about what Rory can do for you in 1 hour, creating a powerful headshot which will enable you to stand out from the crowd.

Look at Rory’s session with Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Patrick’s striking and undeniable acting ability is presented to the lens. Sharp and solemn expressions hold the viewer. If your image doesn’t inspire the viewer, provoke the imagination, it won’t stand out it will be viewed for a split second without consideration.

It is time to think about your headshot photographer, don’t settle for the cheap, shabby, and quick passport-like photo service, which inexperienced photographers may offer. Select the finest Actors Headshot photographer available.

Stephen Graham Portrait Sitting

Stephen Graham Portrait Sitting Rory Lewis London Portrait Photographer

Actor Stephen Graham is an English film and television actor and fellow scouser. Who is best known for his roles as Tommy in the film Snatch (2000), Andrew “Combo” Gascoigne in This Is England (2006), Billy Bremner in The Damned United (2009), notorious bank robber Baby Face Nelson in Public Enemies (2009), Scrum in the Pirates of the Caribbean films and he starred as Al Capone in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.

Stephen accepted my invitation to sit for a portrait at the London Studio last week. I’ve admired his work for many years. Graham is a screen icon, exceptionally talented and known for playing no-nonsense gritty characters. I aimed to capture Stephens métier in my portraits, asking him to pose as emotionless, then changing to capture fierce and angry expressions.

Beau Dermott Portrait Sitting

Britain’s Got Talent Star Beau Dermott is poised for West End Superstardom. The young singer  who already in talks about making her London stage debut has been showered with praise by some of the biggest names in musical theatre.

I received a call from Beau’s parents this week who arranged a portrait sitting for Beau’s first headshots at the Liverpool Studio. The photoshoot was The Star’s first professional sitting.

Beau is no stranger to being in front of the camera, no doubt from her amazing stage performances on Britains’ got talent. Breezing through the headshot session I was able to direct Beau with ease to capture a series of wonderful frames.

Natalie Dormer Portrait Sitting

Natalie Dormer Portrait Sitting Rory Lewis Photographer London Portrait PhotographerActress Natalie Dormer, star of Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games and The Tudors sat for a portrait at the London Studio several weeks ago. I wrote to Natalie inviting her to sit for my Expressive Portraits Project just over a year ago; it just goes to show how many letters and requests she receives. Natalie is exceptionally talented with an incredible natural beauty. As a realist portrait photographer Natalie was a little apprehensive of my style. In the modern world people are obsessed with removing the detail through airbrushing.

Natalie Dormer Portrait Sitting Rory Lewis Photographer London Portrait Photographer

My style is to preserve even line every mark every mole. I try to present my subjects as they really are, flaws and all, while allowing for moments of candidness and vulnerability. Less austere and more deliberate than a mug shot, my work often brings facial features into high relief, allowing expressiveness to recede and making the sitter seem somehow up-close and removed at the same time. Natalie indulged me, enabling me to capture a series of wonderful frames. Her apprehension turned to excitement when she viewed the final results which edified her unique and Natural Beauty.

Natalie Dormer (born 11 February 1982) is an English actress. She is best known for her roles as Anne Boleyn on the Showtime series The Tudors (2007–10), as Margaery Tyrell on the HBO series Game of Thrones (2012–present), Moriarty on the CBS series Elementary (2013–15), and as Cressida in the science-fiction adventure films The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) and Part 2 (2015). She has been nominated for Best Performance at the Gemini Awards for her work in The Tudors. She has also been nominated for a Screen Actor's Guild Award for her performance in Game of Thrones.
