Powerful Actors Headshots Los Angeles (CA)

Whether you’re an Actor or Actress based in Studio City, Burbank, West Hollywood, North Hollywood or Downtown. Rory Lewis Photographer can provide a unique service across Los Angeles. Capturing dynamic and powerful Actors Headshots. Headshots which enable you to stand out from the crowd and gain the interest of agencies and casting directors.

Don’t choose a provincial photographer with little or no experience. Choose a photographer who has worked with the stars of stage and screen in London, New York, and Los Angeles. A photographer whose headshots represent some of the biggest names of stage and screen. Sir Patrick Stewart, to Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Derek Jacobi, Natalie Dormer, Iain Glen, Ian McShane, William Shatner and many more.

Capturing the perfect headshot requires time, and when you book a session with Rory Lewis you will enjoy a  relaxed service. A professional photographer should also be a skilled director. On the day of your session, Rory will direct you with inventive scenarios to bring out your acting talent. In other words acting to camera, as to show potential agents your energy, your vibe and your ability as an Actor.

Rory’s recent  session with Actor Julian Bleach, star of the Borgias and Doctor Who, illustrates how talent and acting ability can be conveyed. Julian’s appearance is retained, very little air-brushing is applied. This is very important if you wish to present your image to casting directors. The expression is distant yet aloof, it has energy, it draws the eye, this is what your headshot needs to evoke.

Julian Bleach Rory Lewis London Portrait Photographer

Your headshot is your first point of contact with any agency or casting director. If it doesn’t stand out; if it doesn’t have the energy; the raw talent which demonstrates your craft. Your headshot won’t work for you. Headshots are a very big investment to an actor, sessions are expensive. You need to make your headshot work for you. It represents you and your character your style, your talent and it must reflect all these things.

Natalie Dormer & Emma Rigby Rory Lewis London Headshots Actress Actors Photographer

Most of Rory’s headshot sessions with Celebrities last 15-20 minutes, this is all the time he is allotted to capture the stars of stage and screen. In this time Rory has to think fast, breaking the ice and directing these talented actors to capture the headshot which will represent them for the next 12 months to – 2 years. Just think about what Rory can do for you in 1 hour, creating a powerful headshot which will enable you to stand out from the crowd.

Look at Rory’s session with Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Patrick’s striking and undeniable acting ability is presented to the lens. Sharp and solemn expressions hold the viewer. If your image doesn’t inspire the viewer, provoke the imagination, it won’t stand out it will be viewed for a split second without consideration.

It is time to think about your headshot photographer, don’t settle for the cheap, shabby, and quick passport-like photo service, which inexperienced photographers may offer. Select the finest Actors Headshot photographer available.

The Importance of Photographic Printing

The Digital Revolution has been a remarkable transition, long gone is the day of analogue. Digital has many advantages, it enables us to learn faster, and gives us technological opportunities that we could have only wished for in the days of film. New styles of photography have emerged and no doubt the digital shift has been a positive one.

Yet it is is of vital importance to keep one area of “analogue photography” the ‘physical print’. More and More, I value the presence of a tactile image, one you can hold, bend and tear. Printing is a crucial factor in the success of many photography businesses and if you wish to develop yourself as an artist printing is the best way to grow.

An art form in itself, printing is the most effective way to show and sell your work, adding value to your product. Print is also, in my own personal opinion the best way to backup your work, data can be lost very easily, storage devices can quickly go out of date. Prints can stand the test of time, and physical prints will always be their.

A print doesn’t need to be enjoyed on a screen, when looking at a printed picture their are no distractions, no icons bouncing up and down or Facebook notifications popping up. I enjoy presenting prints to clients, framing and mounting them, it is something that can be physically enjoyed.  If you want to connect with your viewer, the print is the strongest method.

Epson SureColor SC-P800 A2 Printer

By far the best printers in the opinion of this Blogger are the SureColor range of Epson Printers, I recently invested in the Epson SureColor SC-P800  this has enabled me to become a full service photographer being able to offer everything from the photoshoot to print sales. Helping clients to preserve their memories and guarantee them to last a lifetime.

The SureColor range of Epson Printers present the professional photographer with superior quality prints, using the new UltraChrome HD Ink Cartridge, offering vivid colours and the deepest blacks, the colour is true to the image you see on screen. The printer also offers A2 roll paper printing, enabling you to print panoramic images. With WIFI Printing capability, you can place the printer anywhere in your studio or office which is ideal due to its large bulky size. The SC-P800 was built with the professional photographer in mind. with exceptional print quality, and the quality of materials used, I have no hesitation recommending it to any photographer demanding the highest quality in photographic printing.

Hahnemühle Baryta FB 350gsm Mexican Ambassador to UK Rory Lewis Photographer

Their are many printer papers to choose from, it can be a minefield finding the best paper and it can be process of trial and error. Above all my favourite is Hahnemühle Baryta FB 350gsm has a great feel, weight, and the light from the gloss brightness is beautiful. I favour Hahnemühle papers as they delivery highest archival quality for my clients.

Printing is a skill that all photographers must learn, I hope this article has proven helpful. I can’t express the feeling that I have once a photograph is printed and mounted. Creating something of beauty rather than the digital perspective of viewing my work on screen. I often think back to old movies when you see old attics, full of interesting things, I hope one day when my children’s, children route through the attic they will find some beautiful prints of my work. Printing does make you nostalgic.

“Chilled learning”

Written on: 25/09/2015 by Urijah1961

“Rory taught, inspired and chatted all the way through the session. He kept it interactive without the pressure new learning can often bring. No question out of bounds and very open about all aspects of his approach.
I came away with a new appreciation of the power of good lighting and how to make it happen.
Highly recommended”

“Rory was my tutor for a one-day Portrait Masterclass seminar, and I have to say that it was inspiring, informative and hugely useful. Rory is a natural tutor….He clearly has complete mastery of the technical aspects and fantastic creativity, but most importantly he coaches in a good humoured, informal and relaxed manner that puts everyone at their ease, and makes for a fun experience, whilst covering a lot of ground.”

Brent Spiner Portrait Sitting #LA #Photographer

Brent-Spiner6Many may not know, that despite living in my home town of Liverpool and having my studio in the city, I work both Nationally and Internationally. Actor Brent Spiner, who best known for his portrayal of the android Lieutenant Commander Data in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Sat for a portrait session in Los Angeles last month. It was wonderful to meet Brent, he is a very talented actor. I recently had chance to watch ‘Out at Sea‘ staring Spiner as the Cruise Director Gil Godwyn, I recommend you take a look. The session lasted around an hour and we worked through several looks, I directed Brent to assume expressive poses, both pensive and thought provoking. Brent is a natural in front of the camera, and in such a short time we created some wonderful portraits.
