The Rx 400 Kit is smaller than the standard Bowens Gemini kits, with the test button now integrated with the power LED. On the back, there are three switches: one to change the modelling light mode, one to change the modelling light control and one for setting whether the device beeps when its ready to be triggered again. The 400Rx also has the standard Bowens battery port, so is able to be used with the Travel Battery-pak .
Built into the 400Rx is a radio receiver compatible with Bowens Pulsar radio triggering system the system allows for 24 channels, accessed by using the two buttons on the transmitter. The Pulsar Radio trigger is lightweight, compact and solid . With the receiver being built in, you don’t have to have things attached or dangling from the monolight, but there still is a sync port in case you don’t have the option to use the Radio trigger.
The kit is a great choice for those just starting out, and seeking their first set of strobes, or those looking for kit that gives them portability, without having to carry bulky heavy lighting systems. With the kit you can create easy two light setups without any fuss. On the photoshoot with Craig (Image Below) taken with a Canon 5DMk III you can see the quality and power of the two strobes.
The Bowens Gemini 400Rx kit retails at £599.00, including strobes, stands, umbrellas, a Pulsar Tx trigger and a case.

Many may not know, that despite living in my home town of Liverpool and having my studio in the city, I work both Nationally and Internationally. Actor Brent Spiner, who best known for his portrayal of the android Lieutenant Commander Data in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Sat for a portrait session in Los Angeles last month. It was wonderful to meet Brent, he is a very talented actor. I recently had chance to watch ‘Out at Sea‘ staring Spiner as the Cruise DirectorGil Godwyn, I recommend you take a look. The session lasted around an hour and we worked through several looks, I directed Brent to assume expressive poses, both pensive and thought provoking. Brent is a natural in front of the camera, and in such a short time we created some wonderful portraits.
Wonderful start to 2015, I was commissioned by a Commercial Uniform Supplier to photograph their 2015 Collection. Over 250 uniforms, the assignment took three days to complete.
From multinationals to individuals, advertisingagencies and design groups. I have been commissioned by a large number of clients over the years, from household names including Pepsi, John Lewis, HSBC,Malmaison Hotels& Government Departments to Small Companies and Start-Ups. Actor Tino, booked a session at my Liverpool Studio this week. Tino is about to apply for a place at the New York Film Academy. Working with Aspiring Actors and new Talent is an exciting prospect. This was Tino’s first sitting, and Tino like many young actors was unsure on how to pose for his headshot session. Over the years I have developed my own unique style of working with Actors. Ensuring Sessions are relaxed and enjoyable; using ‘inventive scenarios‘ and direction, to create natural approachable headshots. I always like to start with a few test shots which we can view on the computer so that any necessary changes can be made. We then work in the studio for a time, this gives you a chance to get a feel of how I work and I can find out what works best for you. clothing and hair styles can be changed whenever needed. (A Makeup Artist can be provided if Needed). From time to time I will show you photos so you have a clear idea of what is going on.
After another coffee break I take more studio shots using a different background. Throughout the shoot we will aim to get as many looks as we can, with clothes, different hair styles, angles and emotions. The session will last around Two Hours and in that time I will take about 500 photos, which will be cut down to around 200/220. I shoot in colour and convert into black and white so if you require any colour shots this is not a problem. You will receive your contact sheets on-line via this website within 24 hours. Once you have chosen your two photos I will re-touch and crop them for you and changes can be made before you receive your final photos. With regards to airbrushing, I feel this is a very important area as too much can spoil a photo, this is why I spend a great deal of time working on your photos and like to include you in this process via email or your private page so please make sure you pick the right photos. You will receive all final photos by via your private page.

Brian Cox, CBE is a Scottish actor who initially gained recognition for his portrayal of King Lear with the Royal Shakespeare Company. As well as being a talented thespian, he has also made a solid name for himself in major Hollywood productions such as X-Men 2, Troy and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. He was also the first man to play Hannibal Lector on-screen, in the 1986 Michael Mann film, Manhunter. I cannot begin to state the awe I felt when Brian Cox – even more so when he turned up for our London shoot on the back of a scooter. Having the star of my favourite episode of Hammer House of Horror, the Silent Scream, sitting and posing for me was such a treat – it really makes your job as a photographer that little bit easier when you work with an actor who can tell a whole story with just one look. He is such a funny and pleasant man who, at the same time, has such a commanding aura about him. I had an absolute blast working with him in what was a truly humbling experience.
